Riding a four-game losing streak early this month, the Wild fell behind the surging New York Rangers by three goals at Xcel Energy Center before rallying for a 5-4, shootout victory. And when they opened a three-game trip through New York with a 4-2 victory over the Islanders, it looked as if the Wild might have solved their problems. But it didn’t last long.Dallas scored on 5 of 8 power-play chances, the most ever surrendered by the Wild in a single game, to beat Minnesota 8-3 on Sunday at Xcel Energy Center, the Wild’s third straight loss, and the worst of what already has been a long season.“You know, we felt good a couple of games ago,” veteran wing Marcus Foligno said. “And now we’re kinda right back where it was.”Dallas took a quick 2-0 lead on a power-play goal by Joe Pavelski and a short-handed goal by Radek Faksa, and while Minnesota pulled within 2-1 and 3-2 on first-period goals by Brandon Duhaime and Vinni Lettieri, it never appeared the Wild were actually in it because th...

With each passing week, it seems like Tomas Hertl is having to bear more responsibility to produce offense for the San Jose Sharks.Logan Couture has been out since before training camp began with a lower-body injury. Alexander Barabanov has a broken finger and hasn’t played in three weeks. Now, Anthony Duclair has an unspecified illness with no clear indication as to when he’ll return. That’s three skilled players who would normally be playing alongside Hertl in the top-six forward group.Hertl had his work boots on Sunday as he picked up his team-high 10th point of the season, assisting on Luke Kunin’s first-period goal. But that was all the scoring the Sharks could muster in a 4-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center.Mackenzie Blackwood, starting for the fourth time in five games, once again faced a barrage of shots, 44 in total, with 32 in the first two periods alone. Of the 18 saves he made in the second period, eight came on the penalty kill as the Sharks took three minor pe...
